With cooler temperatures settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunshine, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That extends far beyond having annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your air conditioner is running at its best.
Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Dayton:
- Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a great deal of air is leaving your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside as well. There are a variety of fixes that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to do themselves.
- Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only increase your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s typically recommended to switch your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its benefits, but some can last even longer.
- Buy plants. Indoor plants can offer a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they can possibly better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of toxins that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
- Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having air conditioner service done annually helps you make certain that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t conceded.
It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 937-845-1111 to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
